Wireless Internet at Remote Sea Ice Camp in Antarctica
The Big Razorback Island remote sea ice field camp gets wireless internet and telephone connection thanks to U.S. Antarctic Program IT Comms. Weddell seal researchers living and working on the sea ice in Erebus Bay are connected to the outside world via satellite. Radio communications technician Michael Patterson and antenna riggers Erin Heard and Dan Mahon visit our camp and install the hardware to make this happen. Video by Mary Lynn Price.
